Your Guide to Lessons

I would be pleased to welcome you as a pupil, and I trust that the time will be an enjoyable and rewarding experience for us both.

This page will hopefully answer some of the questions you may have about your lessons. However, if there is anything further you would like explained, please feel free to contact me.

Information about your lessons:

  • I teach at 14, Cimla Road, Neath from Monday to Friday between the hours of 4pm and 8pm. A time will be arranged which is convenient to us both, and your lesson will remain at that set time each week.
  • You will receive private individual tuition lasting 35 minutes (with an additional 5 minutes allowed for between pupils)
  • A warm, welcoming and friendly environment where you can enjoy music making, and learn a skill which will stay with you all your life
  • Learn just for fun or perhaps try an exam so that you can measure your progress and be awarded for it
  • All music and teaching materials will be obtained for you, and will be invoiced with the lesson fees
  • 14, Cimla Road is easily accessed and at a short walking distance from Neath town centre. There is some on-street parking in nearby Cedar Road and Beechwood Avenue. Please click here to see the location on a map (opens in a new Window).
  • Cost per lesson – Please contact me for information.
  • An invoice will be issued for 4 lessons in advance and payment should be made by the following week ‘s lesson with a cheque or cash. (Sorry – I am unable to accept a standing order arrangement)
  • I reserve the right to charge should you cancel a lesson, save for exceptional reasons. However, where reasonable notice is given (preferably 24 hours), I will try to re-schedule your lesson at my discretion.
  • I invariably continue to teach during school holidays and half terms and therefore I must reserve the option of charging the usual lesson rate when any holiday-break longer than two weeks is taken by a pupil at any one time in the year
  • If you decide to terminate your lessons, I would be grateful of 28 days notice, or alternatively payment equivalent for that period. However, this will not apply to the initial 3-month ‘settling-in’ period for new pupils

Finally ……… and what about practising ?

Whether you have decided to learn the piano, organ or the art of singing, the same advice applies.

Pupils who fit in some regular practice each week are the ones who progress quickly and enjoy lessons the most.

All the very best with your music making !
